Safe Places

Safe Places is a Commonwealth Government funded program specifically for the construction of new accommodation suitable for women and children escaping domestic and family violence.  In 2020, Coast2Bay was the recipient of Safe Places funding to deliver safe and secure accommodation for victims of domestic abuse in our region.  This project has become a second stage to a successful similar project known as RISE ‘Restart In a Safe Environment’ – a partnership between Coast2Bay, the Zonta Club of Caloundra and The Salvation Army, which delivers short-term housing and, since commencement in 2017, has assisted many women and  children flee from DV situations.

Current funding under Safe Places will replicate these early successes and now ‘RISE 2’,  is completed and several women and children affected by domestic violence have moved in.  Tenants who are eligible for ‘RISE2’ accommodation will benefit from a fully furnished safe and secure home, whilst being assisted by The Salvation Army for emotional and psychological support.

In conjunction with this project, the ‘RISE2 Foundation’ was launched to raise funds for the required ongoing support services required.  The Foundation is currently supported by a number of partner organisations including the Zonta Club of Caloundra plus our own subsidiary, Purpose Real Estate (a not-for-profit real estate agency: https://purposerealestate.com.au/).
