We’re thrilled to announce that Coast2Bay Housing has been recognised with three prestigious awards! As a leading community housing provider on the Sunshine Coast, we’re honoured to have our commitment to transforming lives through housing acknowledged in these key areas.
Inspirational Team Member Award
Winner: Maggie Cairns
Congratulations to Maggie, Lead of Better Together Housing, for her transformative leadership in supporting older women facing homelessness. Since stepping into her role in June 2024, she’s evolved BTH from a simple online platform into a powerful, women-led movement that’s changing lives across the Sunshine Coast.
Drawing on her background in counselling and community development, Maggie has reimagined BTH as a safe, inclusive community where women don’t just find housing, but they rediscover hope, connection, and strength. Her compassionate approach has created a lasting impact through Coffee Chats, community events, and the PASS-I-ON Project.
Leading Housing Development Project Award
Winner: Aspley Crescent, Nirimba
Our innovative 24-unit development has been recognised for its exceptional design and community impact. As the first medium-density community housing project in the area, Aspley Crescent sets a new benchmark for social housing with its thoughtful architecture, sustainability features (achieving a >7-star energy rating), and village-like feel.
The development blends beautifully into the surrounding Aura masterplanned community whilst providing dignity and genuine connection for residents. With communal gardens, accessibility features, and a supportive tenant mix, the project creates a true sense of community and belonging for all residents.
Outstanding Achievement Award
Winner: Andrew Elvin
A well-deserved recognition for our CEO’s visionary leadership and lifelong commitment to housing as a fundamental human right. With nearly 20 years of volunteer leadership and over 33 years of professional experience, Andrew has transformed Coast2Bay from a medium-sized Tier 2 CHP into a growing Tier 1 company.
What sets Andrew apart is his commitment to housing as a fundamental right. The RISE2 program, which he helped establish in 2017, started with just two dwellings supporting women and children impacted by domestic violence – it’s now expanding to 28 dwellings by its 10th anniversary.
His sector-wide leadership in Australian Community Housing (Formerly CHIA) Queensland and as the longest-serving National Director has played a significant role in key state investments and policy reforms that benefit the entire community housing sector.
Congratulations to Maggie, the Development team, and Andrew – these achievements belong to our entire Coast2Bay family.
