Local Government Elections – March 19 2016
Seeking support to address the crisis in Housing Affordability that impacts ordinary Australians on the Sunshine Coast.
As the largest registered Community Housing Provider in our region, Coast2Bay Housing Group has written to all candidates for Mayor and Councillor roles across the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and Noosa Council areas advocating for the issue of community and affordable housing.
Coast2Bay Housing Group Chief Executive Officer Andrew Elvin said
“Housing affordability is a critical issue for ordinary Australians living in our region. It is having an impact on the cohesiveness of our communities and has the potential to put a brake on economic development. A more innovative and sustainable solution is required – one that involves local councils working in partnership with other levels of Government and the Community Housing sector”.
Candidates are asked to comment and commit themselves to take this issue forward during the campaign and, if successful, in their future role as an elected representative.
