What is affordable housing?
Affordable housing is, generally, housing that is rented at a lower than market rate. The homes are often for essential or key workers who have low to medium income levels. The rent tenants pay in affordable housing is typically 75% of the market rate and it should not be more than 30% of their household income.
The provision of affordable housing is essential to support our key workers and provide an accessible pathway for our residents to the private rental market or home ownership.
